some bluebird days for the BOOST crew !

Starting off the sledding season with a mixed batch of weather and snowfall, we have seen the stability of the snowpack get better over time. Right now we have a few weak layers but have since bonded well with a series of weather patterns that have migrated through. We were blessed with a high pressure zone and to top it off a temperature inversion that made the valley bottoms look and feel gloomy, but the mountain tops were pure blue skies and warmer temps than that of the valley floor. First we hit old faithful.... Boulder mountain, where the boys scoped out the monster bowl and made some spectacular climbs out of the main monster chute.

The rest of the day was spent playing in the trees and boondocking fun on turbo sleds. There isnt much terrain that cant be covered on a sled that pumps 250-300 hp.

We were having such a good time that nightfall hit us fast and we all travelled back to the trucks on fumes.

After a long, hot summer of editing all the footage from the 2008/2009 sledding season, the producer from Far West Films in Revelstoke, BC, announces this season's film : BOOST 4 : The beauty and the BEAST.
Although the winter season brought us mixed forcasts of unstable snow packs, the Boost brothers played it safe by enjoying the deep snow in treed areas and low risk hill climbs. Once the Avalanche forcasts looked better, and our own tests determined it safe, it was time to hit the big chutes !
Bringing on their signature status of " king of chutes " team NM and brothers of BOOST slayed the mountain ranges surrounding Revelstoke, BC.
This action-packed edition of the BOOST series also includes extra footage of the beauty in the mountains around Revelstoke, extra footage of the brothers at their finest, Jeff Parker in his jet boat, and some scenes around the city of Revelstoke in the winter.

So, I have a Yamaha Nytro mountain, an MCXpress turbo kit that needs to be installed and a hankering to rip up some deep Canadian powder. Where do I take my sled ? Well, to the best. CR Racing in Kelowna, BC is owned and operated by Chad Rebec. His shop is located in a very modern industrial area of Kelowna and has easy access. First Door you walk through is the showroom, full of goodies for the sled-mod-head. I was frothing at the mouth within 5 minutes of entry. I have always wanted a CR tunnel. Looking at other aftermarket tunnels, I can see the difference. The quality in craftsmanship at CR is second to none. Every attention to detail is unsurpassed. They really are works of hand-crafted art.

I saw such a plethora of parts there, everything that could satisfy your sledding soul. I never did like the riding position on the Nytro. The bars were too low and pointed right at your chest. After taking a creek hard last winter and shearing off the bars with my chest, I was #1 going to get chest protection, and #2 relocate the bars. When you get the steering post and bar risers from CR, If you were to crash and take the bars to your mid section, at least they will move forward and take up some of the blow. Plus they are fully adjustable to your riding style and body shape. HUGE BONUS !!

The stock Yamaha risers are just a joke, and pain waiting to happen. Do yourself a favour and get the post. It now moves to steering location ahead about 2.5 inches and the risers are downright bomber looking.

They unloaded my sled and brought it into the mega shop, where there were several super sick projects going on, everything from meth injection to Propane powered turbo sleds. Chad is the mastermind and builder behind the world's fastest and most powerful mountain sled " RATED R " . A widely published and respected nitro methane powered sled with 750+ hp on tap. I was priveledged enough to watch and record Chad take this sled across a frozen lake. I think my jaw hit the ground on several occasions , let's just say I was awestruck.

So I knew my machine was in good hands. When your installing a turbo on your sled, there are a number of critical steps that must be performed 100% correctly or disaster will ensue. If you consider yourself a good wrench, think again. Do yourself a favour and spend the couple extra bucks on intallation, because a new motor from Yamaha aint cheap by any means. When your tapping out 250+ hp out of a motor with stock values of 130hp , and your install wasn't done correctly.... kaboom. That's it.

The operations at CR are well organized and smooth. And the shop is set up to modify or build almost anything. I wanted a CR 162 tunnel for my sled and chrome extrusions. Chad built one for me as I had ordered it ahead of time. With the MCXpress kits you get a muffler that hangs out the back right next to the intake. This causes a whole lot of problems because the snow is heated by the pipe and because it is right next to the intake, water is sucked in, turns to ice, and causes serious problems. Chad's team of developers came up with a system that takes the exhaust and dumps it into the tunnel onto the track, seperating the two so you get a mean sound and no intake problems.

FWF announces BOOST 3 !!!

Finally , after many hours of edit room aggravation, the third edition of the Boost series is complete. Previous years have given you the inside on boosted four strokes, showing you how the myth of the point and shoot sleds is dead. Lots of boondocking and deep powder riding filled the silver screen. " Homesick Angels " is the title and it speaks for itself. The Boost brothers climb chute after chute of previously unclimbable terrain high in the sky and up into the heavenly pillows of powder.

Here's where it all begins. The blog for venting my frustrations and opinions.

This weekend was the Alberta snowmobile associations sled show in Edmonton , Alberta. Although we endured some blizzard style conditions, the show went on without a hitch and was actually very good ! I didn't get any attendance #'s but I know from experience that they would have been fairly high. there was all sorts of great goodies there including CR racing's pit of heaven. The mod shop that everyone compare's to Jesse Jame's West coast choppers style, Chad Rebec does his magic on sleds.
In his booth there was every mod gadget known to the industry, including lightweight seats, tunnels, suspension, and you name it.
Rated R made another appearance, the 750 hp Nitro injected snowmobile is the fastest hillclimber known to man.

Chad Rebec has made a name in the snowmobile mod industry, and you know he is that good when you see other mod shops trying to copy his masterpieces. The other attraction was Randy Swenson's HP3 propane powered turbo Nytro. This sled was built on a Yamaha Nytro chassis with CR racing tunnel, hood, bars, steering post, and risers. The propane kit was developed and installed by Brad Story of Utah.

It will be nice to see Randy rip up the powder with this hot rig.
